About Hengrave Hall

A sixteenth-century Tudor manor house in 350 acres of Suffolk parkland, taken on exclusive hire.

Hengrave Hall is a sixteenth-century Tudor manor house set in 350 acres of parkland and formal gardens near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, taken on an exclusive-hire basis for weddings so that no other function takes place during your event. Couples marry in its own Church of St John Lateran or the ground-floor rooms, dine beneath the ornate ceiling of the Long Gallery for up to 140, and take drinks in the Italian-style courtyard and on the West Terrace, with twenty-one on-site bedrooms so the whole party stays within the private estate.

Hengrave Hall is one of the finest historic wedding venues in Suffolk, a sixteenth-century Tudor manor house of pale stone and red brick, set in 350 acres of parkland and formal gardens three miles from Bury St Edmunds. It is taken on an exclusive-hire basis, which means that on the day of a wedding there is no other function anywhere on the estate: the house, its church and its gardens belong entirely to one couple and their guests.

The house has its own church in the grounds, the Church of St John Lateran, for a religious ceremony, while civil ceremonies are held in the ground-floor rooms for up to 140. Inside, the panelled Banqueting Hall and the Long Gallery, the latter running the length of the house beneath an ornate ceiling, make grand rooms for the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the dancing. Outside, the Italian-style courtyard, lit with festoon lighting, and the sunny West Terrace hold the drinks receptions, with formal gardens, topiary and fountains beyond.

Twenty-one on-site bedrooms, many with four-poster beds, let the whole party stay within the private estate, and the Queen Elizabeth Suite and the Blue Room are given over to the couple to prepare in. Venue hire starts from £4,000 plus VAT, with catering by the hall's exclusive partner, Milsom Catering, so a wedding at Hengrave becomes a private weekend in one of the great houses of East Anglia.

Hengrave Hall has twenty-one on-site bedrooms, set across the Tudor hall itself and the Walled Gardens beside it, many with four-poster beds and mullioned windows onto the parkland. Because the estate is taken exclusively, the whole party stays together within the grounds, and the Queen Elizabeth Suite, in a private part of the house, and the Blue Room, fitted with a billiard table and a wet room, are given over to the couple and their parties to prepare in on the morning of the wedding.
