Bali Wedding Venues and Villas: Pricing, Capacity, and What Couples Need to Know

Bali's appeal as a destination wedding location is straightforward: exceptional natural beauty, a rich spiritual culture that gives ceremonies genuine meaning, and a luxury hospitality market that has matured significantly in the last decade. The complexity lies in understanding which tier of the market you are actually looking at.

Bali's wedding venues split cleanly into three areas that don't overlap much in what they offer. Seminyak and Canggu are the coastal, built-up part of the island: beach clubs, boutiques and a fashionable, urban feel. Seminyak is the busier and more polished of the two; Canggu is looser, built around surf and rice paddies rather than nightlife.
Ubud, inland and surrounded by rice terraces and jungle, is the cultural centre: this is where a ceremony can draw on genuine Balinese tradition rather than a resort's approximation of it, and where the island's wellness and retreat scene is concentrated.
Uluwatu, on the island's southern tip, is the clifftop option: venues here sit directly above the Indian Ocean, and it's the setting behind most of the dramatic, glass-walled ceremony photography Bali is known for.
Tier One Venues and Villas
At the top of the market are a small number of resorts with genuine international reputations. Alila Villas Uluwatu sits on the cliffs above the Uluwatu surf break; its glass-walled Bale Kambang pavilion, cantilevered 100 metres above the ocean, is one of the most photographed wedding settings on the island. Capacity runs from around 20 guests for an intimate ceremony up to 100 for a full reception.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan sits inside the Ubud valley instead, built above a river gorge with jungle on every side — the inland counterpart to Uluwatu's clifftop drama, for a couple who wants the wedding to look like Bali's interior rather than its coast.
Pricing: Bali in Context
Bali is not the budget destination its reputation sometimes suggests, at least not at the top of the market. A 60-guest wedding at a tier-one resort such as the Four Seasons or Alila typically runs £45,000 to £80,000 once catering, styling and accommodation are included, not just the bare venue fee — generally less than an equivalent wedding in Italy or the south of France, but real money all the same.
The private villa market is the other route, and it's genuinely cheaper. A 6-10 bedroom villa in Seminyak, Canggu or Ubud, with a private pool and grounds that can take an event, typically runs £3,000 to £8,000 a night for a full buyout, usually with staff, a private chef and event coordination included. Catering and event costs on top of that tend to run well below what the same services cost through a hotel.
The couples who get the most out of a Bali wedding tend to be the ones who build the island's own culture into the day, a Balinese blessing, local music, Balinese cuisine, rather than treating the setting as scenery for an otherwise generic wedding.
One thing is worth asking for regardless of budget: a Balinese Hindu blessing built into the ceremony itself, rather than staged afterward as background colour. It's the difference between a wedding that happens to be in Bali and one that is, in some real sense, a Balinese wedding.
