Grasse, French Riviera, France

Le Petit Versailles of the French Riviera.

Château Saint Georges was built in the second half of the 19th century by Léon Chiris, heir to one of the great perfumery families of Grasse, in the Second Empire style and named for his son George. Coined Le Petit Versailles, it stands in a gated 3-hectare park in the hills above the town, its salons restored with boiserie in gold leaf and silk jacquard Lyonnaise. Formal gardens hold a Temple of Love, and the terrace looks out over the bay of Cannes; Queen Victoria contemplated that same panorama in 1891. Nine rooms and suites, plus Villa Norah, sleep the wedding party, and the entire château is available for a single celebration, five minutes from Grasse.

A Ceremony by the Temple of Love. A Dinner in Gold-Leaf Salons.

Château Saint Georges hosts a single wedding at a time across its 3-hectare park. A civil or symbolic ceremony can be held beside the Temple of Love in the formal gardens or on the panoramic terrace, with the bay of Cannes beyond. An aperitivo follows in the park or by the heated indoor pool, and the wedding dinner is laid on the terrace under the stars or in the gold-leaf Salon Napoléon and Salon Bleu, among boiserie and silk jacquard Lyonnaise. Live music and DJs are welcome, with curfew extensions and fireworks available on request. Because the château is hired dry, couples appoint their own caterer and suppliers and shape the day entirely around themselves. The château, the gardens, the pool, all nine rooms, and Villa Norah are exclusively yours.

Dry Hire, Your Own Caterer

Bespoke Menus, Staged Across the Domain.

Dining at Château Saint Georges is treated as theatre, fragrance, and flavour. The château is hired dry, so couples bring their own chosen caterer and compose bespoke menus with celebrated chefs, with the Grande Cuisine at the heart of the house. Candlelit dinners are staged on the panoramic terrace, multi-course menus in the gold-leaf salons of the Salon Napoléon and Salon Bleu, and cocktails and canapés in the gardens. Wine pairings are drawn from the vineyards of Provence and the Côte d'Azur.

A Queen in Grasse, 1891

When Queen Victoria spent a month in Grasse in April 1891, Léon Chiris welcomed her, and she returned often to contemplate the panorama of the valley from the terrace. A wedding at the château is held inside that royal history, in the perfume capital of the world.

Dry Hire, Your Own Caterer

The château is hired exclusively and dry, so couples appoint their own chosen caterer and compose bespoke menus, with the Grande Cuisine at the heart of the house. Receptions are staged on the terrace, in the gold-leaf salons, and in the gardens, with wines of Provence and the Côte d'Azur.

Grasse has been the perfume capital of the world for centuries, its hills planted with the jasmine, rose, and tuberose that supply the great houses of France. Château Saint Georges was built by Léon Chiris, the fourth generation of one of the most important perfumery families of the town, who developed the company across France, Morocco, and Algeria. When Queen Victoria spent a month in Grasse in April 1891, Léon Chiris welcomed her to his villa and gardens, and she returned often: the Journal of Grasse noted that Her Majesty would spend a long time contemplating the wonderful panorama of the Grasse valley from the terrace. A wedding at the château is held inside that royal history, with the fragrant backcountry of the Riviera at the door.
