In the castle itself: a ceremony for up to 100 guests in rooms associated with six medieval queens, a wedding breakfast for 100 in the Grand Salon and Drawing Rooms for an evening reception for 120, all with the moat visible from every window. In the Maiden's Tower: a more intimate island setting for ceremonies of up to 80 and evening receptions of 100, with exclusive use of private gardens. In Battel Hall: perhaps the most intimate exclusive-use wedding in England, ceremony for 16, a wedding breakfast for just 16 in the Oak Panelled Dining Room and de Gournay Room. In the Fairfax Barn: a relaxed evening reception for 100 to 180 guests in a charming rustic setting from 6pm to midnight. From Eleanor of Castile to Errol Flynn.

In 1278, King Edward I gave Leeds Castle to his queen, Eleanor of Castile, and began three centuries of royal ownership that would see the castle pass through the hands of Margaret of France, Isabella of France, Anne of Bohemia, Joan of Navarre, and Catherine de Valois. Henry VIII later transformed it for Catherine of Aragon in 1519. In 1926, Olive, Lady Baillie, an Anglo-American heiress, purchased the neglected estate and reinvented it as the most glamorous private house in the country, receiving Edward VIII, George VI, Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin, and Errol Flynn as houseguests. She bequeathed the castle to the Leeds Castle Foundation on her death in 1974. In July 1978 it hosted the private talks that preceded the Camp David Accords. In 2004 Tony Blair led Northern Ireland peace talks here. The castle that has witnessed all of this is available to be yours for one day. That is not a sales line. It is simply the truth.

Leeds Castle is owned and operated by the Leeds Castle Foundation, a charitable trust established under the will of Olive, Lady Baillie, who bequeathed the estate on her death in 1974 with the wish that it be preserved for public enjoyment. The Foundation opened the gardens in 1975 and the castle in 1976. Today the castle receives around half a million visitors per year, hosts events and weddings year-round, and uses commercial income to fund the estate's conservation and public programming. Between 1278 and the fifteenth century, Leeds Castle was a royal residence held by six medieval queens of England: Eleanor of Castile (the first, given the castle by Edward I in 1278), Margaret of France, Isabella of France (who famously besieged the castle in 1321 when denied entry by Lady Badlesmere), Anne of Bohemia (Richard II's queen, who spent a winter there before their marriage), Joan of Navarre, and Catherine de Valois. Henry VIII later transformed the castle for Catherine of Aragon in 1519. For a couple marrying here, these rooms have held the weight of English history for seven hundred years.
