Villa La Rondinaia was built in 1927 on the cliff face above Ravello, its terraces set above the Gulf of Salerno with views that reach from the Amalfi Coast to the horizon. For thirty-three years it was the home of Gore Vidal, who wrote here and received the figures of twentieth-century culture on its garden terraces. Restored in 2019 by owners Vincenzo and Gerardo di Natale, the villa combines its history with contemporary luxury: Italian artisan furnishings, six sea-view suites, the NEXST Restaurant, and 25,000 square metres of terraced gardens descending toward the sea.

Weddings at Villa La Rondinaia take place across a series of terraced gardens and panoramic terraces that descend the cliff face above the Gulf of Salerno. Civil and symbolic ceremonies are held on the outdoor terraces, with 180 degrees of Amalfi coastline as the backdrop. Intimate receptions and private dinners for up to 80 guests are held on the terraces, in the villa's salons, or at the NEXST Restaurant. The whole property is reserved exclusively: no other events, no other guests. The six sea-view suites accommodate the closest family and wedding party on site, with Ravello's hotels minutes away for additional guests.

From the Cliff, to the Table.

NEXST Restaurant occupies the villa's dining terrace, looking out across the Gulf of Salerno. The kitchen works with the produce of the Amalfi Coast: seafood from local waters, lemons from the groves below, the vegetables and oils of Campania. Wedding banquets are composed individually for each celebration, from an eight-course dinner for the full party to a private lunch for the couple on the clifftop terrace. The kitchen can accommodate dietary requirements and is open to working with a couple's own preferred caterer where agreed.

Clifftop Ceremony Terraces

Multiple terraced levels descend the cliff face, each with 180-degree views across the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. Civil and symbolic ceremonies take place on the panoramic terraces, with the sea and coastline as the only backdrop.

The Terraced Gardens

25,000 square metres of gardens descend the cliff in a series of terraces planted with citrus groves, cypress trees, pines, and olive trees. Aperitivo, cocktail hours, and intimate receptions are set among the gardens as the coast is lit by the afternoon sun.

Infinity Pool and Solarium

The infinity pool sits on a terrace with the Gulf of Salerno below and the Amalfi Coast on every side. The solarium is available for the wedding party throughout the hire period, and is frequently used for welcome aperitivo and morning breakfasts.

The Villa's Salons

The 950 square metre interior of La Rondinaia features barrel-vaulted ceilings, arched doorways, tiled corridors, and fireplaces. The salons can accommodate intimate seated dinners and evening receptions, their architecture unchanged since the villa was built in 1927.

Gore Vidal's La Rondinaia.

American writer Gore Vidal purchased La Rondinaia in 1972 and lived here for thirty-three years, writing novels, essays, and screenplays from the clifftop study above the Gulf of Salerno. The villa became one of the great literary salons of the twentieth century: Tennessee Williams, Princess Margaret, Hillary Clinton, Paul Newman, Andy Warhol, Rudolf Nureyev, Leonard Bernstein, and Italo Calvino were among those who came to Ravello and stayed at La Rondinaia. Vidal was awarded honorary citizenship of Ravello, and his name became inseparable from the town. His most quoted line on the subject: "I don't live in Ravello. I live at La Rondinaia." The current owners, Vincenzo and Gerardo di Natale, undertook a full restoration of the property in 2019, preserving the architectural character and historical significance of the villa while bringing its interiors to contemporary luxury standard.

Ravello is known for the Villa Cimbrone (whose gardens border La Rondinaia), the Wagner Auditorium, and its position above the coastal road that makes it quieter and more private than Positano or Amalfi town. Naples International Airport is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes away by car.
