Tai Flora Luxe

Jamaica’s largest florist and full-service event house, twenty years into building destination weddings across the island.

Dr. Paulette Hossmann was arranging flowers for hotel lobbies in Montego Bay when a bride, short of time, asked her for a bouquet. That single favour, twenty years ago, became Tai Flora Luxe, now one of Jamaica’s largest events houses, with five branches across the island’s vacation parishes and a floral operation large enough to call itself the country’s biggest importer of flowers. Sascha Hossmann runs the business alongside her. The work has grown considerably since that first bouquet, but the instinct behind it, flowers built around one particular wedding, has not changed.

The tropical palette is where the studio is most itself. A centrepiece built for Jade Mweemba’s wedding at the Hilton in Montego Bay ran on bird of paradise, orchid and anthurium, set among gold-framed chairs under a marquee dressed floor to ceiling in white. It is a considerably bolder register than the pastel palettes that dominate most wedding floristry, and it works precisely because Jamaica’s own flora, heliconia, ginger lily, the orange and red of anthurium, gives a florist working on the island a colour vocabulary that a European or American studio simply does not have on its doorstep.
That colour vocabulary runs right through the portfolio. A reception built around manzanita branches, hung with pale bloom and threaded overhead with crystal, held its centre in a deep orange and coral, echoed on the table linen and the chair ties, and carried into the evening once the chandeliers came on and the dancing started. It is the kind of installation that needs real engineering, branches sourced and shaped, wired and weighted, so that what looks like a forest growing through the tent is in fact a structure built to hold for the length of an entire wedding day.
What is easy to miss in a single photograph is how much of that installation is logistics rather than design. Manzanita branches of the right shape and size have to be sourced before a stem of fresh flower is even ordered, then transported, cleaned and wired into a structure strong enough to carry crystal and bloom for the length of a wedding reception without shifting. A studio with a single van and a handful of florists can build a beautiful bouquet; building a branch canopy over an entire tent, on a fixed date, with no possibility of a second attempt, is a different order of operation, and it is the order Tai Flora Luxe has built itself around.

Away from the branch and bloom, the studio’s decor side does the quieter, structural work: clear-top tents, tiered chandeliers, full drape treatments in grey, silver or burgundy, built to hold a room together before a single flower goes in. A beachfront pergola lounge, dressed in burgundy sheer against the sand, shows the same instinct at a smaller scale, chandeliers hung from the timber frame, floral arrangements in silver urns doing the work of softening what would otherwise be a fairly hard-edged structure of wood and drape.
The same beach setting reappears in a considerably brighter register elsewhere in the portfolio, fuchsia and lime linen instead of burgundy, a silver candelabra of red rose standing in for the urns, low daybeds arranged around a sand dance floor with the pier and the open water behind. It is evidence of a studio that treats colour as a variable to be set for each event rather than a fixed house style, comfortable moving from a deep, moody burgundy lounge to a considerably louder fuchsia and lime one without either reading as a compromise.

"Thank you so very much for making my daughter's wedding at Hilton Rose Hall absolutely stunning! It was beautiful! We couldn't have been happier."

, On Tai Flora Luxe
That kind of response is echoed at scale. Tai Flora Luxe holds a 3.9-star average across more than fifty Google reviews, a real, unfiltered spread rather than a curated handful, and was recognised with the Caribbean Wedding Industry’s Event Planner and Floral Designer award in 2018. The studio’s work has also appeared in Brides, The Knot and Style Me Pretty, according to its own account, alongside further international titles. None of that changes what a couple is actually buying, a wedding’s worth of flowers, but it is a reasonable amount of evidence for a florist operating at this scale, on an island where reputation still travels mostly by word of mouth.
A 3.9 average is worth stating plainly rather than rounding up. Among the fifty-five reviews behind it are thirty-four five-star ratings, a handful in the middle, and a run of one-star complaints, mostly about retail deliveries rather than weddings, the kind of mixed, unfiltered record a genuinely large, multi-branch operation accumulates over twenty years and thousands of jobs. It is a less flattering number than a curated set of testimonials would show, but it is a real one, and it sits alongside a wedding-specific review, from a mother of the bride at a Hilton Rose Hall wedding, detailed enough to name the venue’s own coordinator by name.

Destination weddings bring their own logistics, and it is here that being Jamaica’s largest importer of flowers actually matters. A couple flying in stems from overseas for a beach ceremony is at the mercy of customs delays and a single missed flight; a florist who already imports at volume, for five branches across the island, is simply better placed to absorb that risk. It is an unglamorous advantage, invisible in any finished photograph, but it is very often the difference between a wedding’s flowers arriving on time and a bride finding out the morning of the ceremony that they have not.
The studio’s own account of its journey begins almost by accident: hotel-lobby arrangements, then a last-minute bridal bouquet, then, over twenty years, five branches and a staff of more than two hundred, florists, carpenters and planners among them. It is not a common route into wedding floristry, most studios start with a couple’s wedding and grow from there, rather than starting with hospitality flowers and discovering weddings along the way, but it may explain the scale the business has reached. A studio built first for hotels learns early how to deliver on a fixed date, at volume, without a second chance.
The island’s wedding calendar is not limited to beach ceremonies, and Tai Flora Luxe maintains a dedicated South Asian weddings service, floral mandaps and jaimala arches built for multi-day celebrations rather than a single afternoon. Alyson and Vinay Bhojwani’s wedding at Half Moon, in January 2024, ran an aisle lined in floral colour against the mountains and palms of Montego Bay’s north coast, a considerably more elaborate ceremony brief than a Western wedding arch, and one that asks a florist to understand a different set of traditions rather than simply scaling up a familiar template.

Meet Dr. Paulette Hossmann

Dr. Paulette Hossmann still describes the studio’s beginnings as a matter of being in the right place at the right time, arranging flowers for hotel lobbies when a bride’s last-minute request turned into a career. Twenty years on, she runs the business alongside Sascha Hossmann, the two of them overseeing a staff of more than two hundred across the island’s vacation parishes. It is a longer and less conventional route into wedding floristry than most, but it has produced a studio comfortable working at almost any scale, from a single reception centrepiece to a multi-day destination wedding for two hundred guests.
Between them, the two founders bring more than thirty years of hospitality-industry experience, in food and beverage, sales, event design and production, according to the studio’s own account, before either of them built a wedding-specific business at all. It is a background that shows in how the company is actually run: five branches rather than one, a staff organised by discipline, florists, carpenters and planners working alongside each other rather than a single designer subcontracting the rest, and an import operation sized for volume rather than for one wedding at a time. Corporate work, galas, award ceremonies, state visits, still runs alongside the weddings, and the two sides of the business plainly share the same production muscle.
A wedding’s flowers last a single day, whatever the address, a clifftop hotel in Negril, a beachfront lounge on the north coast, a mandap built for a multi-day celebration. What Tai Flora Luxe brings to each of them is less a single signature look than twenty years of logistics: five branches, a large-scale import operation, and a staff built to deliver at volume without the flowers becoming the thing that goes wrong on the day. For a couple planning a destination wedding in Jamaica, that combination of colour and reliability is worth taking seriously.
